The first of many posts from my recent trip to Maine… my Stonewall Kitchen experience(s)!! Stonewall Kitchen is headquartered in York, Maine and they actually manufacture all of their products that are packaged in glass jars/ containers right there on-site! I attended a class at their cooking school as well as visited their company store where they sell all their products, and ate at the cafe on the property. The cooking school offers a wide assortment of demonstration-based cooking classes for a reasonable price! The class I attended was called Surf, Surf, and Turf. The appetizer of clam chowder was definitely the best I’ve had; it was a thinner broth than chowders typically have. The entree was shrimp scampi atop filet mignon and served with parmesan cauliflower risotto, garlic bread, and roasted root vegetables. The risotto was soo creamy and delicious, I will definitely be trying to make this myself. The dessert was a chocolate lava cake which was a tad rich but still delicious. I very much enjoyed the cooking class experience and recommend it to anyone who may be visiting the area!! The cafe onsite has a nice variety of breakfast and lunch options, all made with or served with their own products. I had the garden veggie & cheese scramble which was delicious. The cafe has seats inside as well as outside overlooking beautiful plantings.
